Courage and the Israeli agricultural miracle

We were delighted to speak to some 60 Jewish women as part of Momentum’s event held in Tel Aviv on 7 July 2021.

Focused on the theme of courage, our Executive Director (Danielle Abraham) spoke about the courage necessary for Israel to achieve its revolutionary agricultural success. “It’s easy to forget what it took for Israel to get to where it is today.” remarked Danielle, “I often speak about Israel’s pioneer mentality: the outright refusal to fail. This sounds good in theory, but it’s all too easy to gloss over the true grit it took to do this in practice.”

Danielle’s presentation outlined the courage it took for Israel’s first agricultural pioneers to pursue an ideology and a new life dedicated to working the land, the courage it took to outline and execute a daunting vision of agricultural development in the face of all odds, and the courage it takes for agricultural experts and researchers to venture off the beaten path in favour of outside-the-box thinking.

Momentum seeks to empower women to change themselves, their families, their communities and the world through Jewish values. As part of its mission, it seeks to strengthen relationships to the land, people and State of Israel as an integral part of Jewish identity.
