Strengthening Israel’s standing as a global leader of agricultural expertise and innovation
THE MODEL FARM FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
With a $4,780,000 donation from The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust, the model farm was launched in 2018. The farm, currently in year 2 of 3 of its establishment, is situated in Neve Ya’ar, the northern research center of the Volcani Center. Sitting adjacent to Volcani’s laboratories, it narrows the gap between research and implementation and has been designed to be open to people of all nations, without regard to political and geographical borders.
To ensure that Volcani continues to position Israel as a global leader of agricultural innovation, we must continue to attract and recruit world class scientists, and philanthropy is key to its success.
Over the course of the next few decades, the world will be looking to the best scientists in the world to provide solutions for growing, hungry and thirsty population. We’re looking for the support of those who would like to ensure that when they do so, they will be looking to Israel.
EMPOWERING NEGEV FARMERS
Over the course of June 2018 alone, incendiary kites caused more than 450 fires, torching some 7,000 acres of farmlands, parks and forests. The farmers across the four regional councils were in desperate need of assistance. To date, we have purchased and distributed 67 bomb shelters and emergency fire-fighting equipment and $400,000 worth of firefighting equipment.
